In this role, you will have the chance to make your mark on our approach to design for manufacture and be at the forefront of our team's work to bring creativity and innovation to the development of ONFAB's current and future products.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll be responsible for managing the entire design engineering process, including our site installations worldwide, on behalf of ONFAB. You'll manage a fantastic team of engineers provide excellent engineering expertise to our business, supporting the advancement of our product innovation and ensuring all products meet our stringent safety standards and commercial objectives.
Specifically, you will:
Lead and manage the Engineering Team to ensure alignment of our engineering function and production capability with the manufacturing, sales, and distribution strategy for the business.
Coordinate and direct projects, leading the analysis of technology, resource needs and market demand in order to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of containment systems and equipment.
Lead the registration of designs, patents and protection of copyright for ONFAB designs.
Work with the Sales Director to support the negotiations of project specifications and contracts.
Work with collaboratively with all our stakeholders to introduce new containment products by the conversion of ideas into models and designs through to final products.
Analyse the feasibility of proposed product designs, making recommendations for development, replacement or retirement.
Manage our knowledge management system, contributing to its development and ensuring effective knowledge sharing.
Address emerging design, quality, safety and operational issues, identifying causes, barriers, stakeholders and related issues.
Develop and implement procedures and interpret regulatory requirements (including CE marking, EU/USA standards) to ensure product compliance and best practice, monitoring the commercial success of product developments.
Identify and implement improvements to our product designs, developing and delivering new products and researching new technologies/alternative approaches in order to achieve plans for future growth within the company.
Represent and promote ONFAB in support of its systems with customers and at trade shows/exhibitions as required.
About You
To join us as our Engineering Manager, you will need:
Chartered Engineer status
BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering, or similar
Background and knowledge in pharmaceutical isolator design, ideally within manufacturing
Previous experience of manual or semi-automated processing operations in an industrial or engineering environment
Experience in product safety
Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate a team
Excellent problem-solving skills, always seeking to improve best practice
