Engineering Planner

to support our expanding Engineering team at our flagship Alconbury site.

The Role



The

Engineering Planner

plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of MM Flowers' engineering operations. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activity, managing compliance, and supporting communication between Engineering, Production, Planning, and Technical teams.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that requires excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities



Maintenance Planning & Scheduling



Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all plant, equipment, and facilities. Coordinate planned shutdowns, servicing, and asset inspections to minimise disruption to operations. Work collaboratively with Production to plan engineering work that supports business priorities.

Compliance & Documentation



Ensure full legal compliance with Electricity at Work, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR regulations. Maintain up-to-date inspection, audit, and certification records. Manage engineering service contracts, renewals, and supporting documentation.

Resource & Inventory Management



Forecast and manage spare parts, consumables, and tooling requirements to minimise downtime. Support standardisation of parts, suppliers, and maintenance procedures. Track engineering spend and contribute to cost control through effective planning and supplier management.

Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination



Schedule and manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with MM Flowers' safety and quality standards. Ensure all contractors are briefed, inducted, and monitored during on-site activity. Act as the link between Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Technical to maintain workflow and communication.

Training & Record Management



Maintain accurate training and certification records for the Engineering team. Support the Chief Engineer with tracking mandatory training requirements. Ensure all engineering logs and reports are completed accurately and stored appropriately.

Continuous Improvement



Contribute to the development of maintenance planning systems, procedures, and reporting tools. Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance engineering data visibility.

About You



Essential Skills & Experience



Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Strong understanding of engineering principles and maintenance best practices. Highly organised with excellent communication and coordination skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills & Experience



Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Relevant Engineering, Health & Safety, or Technical qualification. Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
