Role Description:

As part of the Fraud and CCS IT function within WPB (Wealth and Personal Banking), the Credit Decisioning Platform team are responsible for the IT systems which facilitate credit decisions (Accept, Decline, Refer) to the front end channels for new (Account Origination) and existing (Account Management) customer journey\'s.

There are 300+ strategies deployed globally in every WPB market, providing automated decisions on consumer credit products in milli-seconds. The systems provide 4Bn decisions per year for 10M applications and 38M customers globally. The annual investment in Credit Decisioning is 20M, with a global team of 250 engineers across IT and the business, contributing to 1.6K credit strategy changes per year and enhancements to the decisioning systems.

The Fraud and CCS IT function are looking for an individual to become the Engineering Platform Lead. The successful candidate will be the primary lead for Credit Decisioning Systems and must be capable of managing / understanding complex technology systems, working with a variety of IT and business stakeholders, and leading a team of IT engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Business Transformation and DevOps teams, responsible for the delivery, on-going success & continuous improvement of a discrete set of products or business services.
  • Accountable with Architecture lead to review requirements from a testing perspective and formulate the non-functional testing strategy
  • Accountable together with Security Specialists to formulate the security testing strategy
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance of the products and services with mandatory and regulatory requirements, control objectives in the risk and control framework and technical currency (in line with published standards and guidelines) and, with the architecture function, implementation of the business imperatives
  • Accountable for ensuring that all activities performed by teams adhere to the relevant prevailing data standards and data controls
  • Work with the Business Transformation to ensure that work is deconstructed and translated into development activities across teams
  • Accountable for ensuring that all activities performed by Teams adhere to the relevant Service Management Standards, and high data quality exists in Service Management systems of record
  • Work with product owner & team to ensure that the lead time to deploy changes is continuously improving and benchmarks appropriately across other functions within the DevOps team
  • Work with Business Transformation & team to ensure that high levels of automation are implemented and maintained across the teams
  • Work with Business Transformation & team to ensure that service levels are maintained and improved
  • Ensure the cost base for the products and services is managed in line with controls applied by the Head of Product Technology and associated Chief Information Officer (CIO) function
  • Participate as part of the DevOps leadership team in ensuring consistent process and practice is maintained across the DevOps team
  • Ensure that the product test strategy includes Test automation, Test Data and Environments - including virtual services
  • Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimise variation and ensure predictable high quality code and data
  • Keep up-to-date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cybersecurity and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable
  • Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered.
Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:
  • Extensive experience working in a Technology facing role.
  • Extensive knowledge of managing, maintaining and developing IT systems which run on the distributed platform (Linux, VMs, Databases, etc).
  • Proven experience of building and deploying complex IT solutions on the Cloud (e.g. GCP), including extensive knowledge of GCP tooling and CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Experience in incident and problem management, including facing off to senior technology and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working on Credit and/or Fraud (or similar risk) systems (desirable).
  • Managing vendor and product relationships.
  • Automation in order to increase cost efficiencies and reduce risk.
  • Extensive and proven track record of managing and influencing complex stakeholders within IT and the business and building lasting relationships.
  • Leadership experience, including managing a team of IT resources globally.
  • Strong influencing, written and verbal communication skills is a must.
  • Proven experience in financials and controlling budgets.
  • Extensive experience of managing risks, issues, and adherence to controls.
  • Background in Agile and the adoption of best practises.
The role can be based in Birmingham, Sheffield, or Leeds. This role supports Hybrid working.
