Purpose of Position
To Ensure that preventative and planned maintenance of factory plant is carried out to meet production,
Leading and managing a team of suitably qualified mechanical technicians to ensure that the correct engineering practices are adopted.
The management of stores control, engineering contractors and shutdown planning.
Providing plans for capital and revenue expenditure adopting continual improvement principles.
Works closely with process technicians, process operators, shift/team leaders, senior, software technician, engineering stores, health & safety co-ordinator, quality department, works admin, production manager and operations manager to ensure the sites targets and objectives are achieved
Key Accountabilities
Health and Safety of self and others.
Ensure planned preventative maintenance of plant and machinery is carried out adopting the correct engineering practices in order to operate at optimum efficiency
Ensure health and safety and legislative requirements are enforced
Maintain and manage a committed team through effective personal leadership
Effective communication to the engineering and productive departments
Ensure effective communication through daily logbook entries.
Maintaining department and site housekeeping standards.
Participating in continuous site improvement.
Work with engineering contractors as required.
Maintain, inspect and test site services as and when required.
Ensure the integrity of the stores by booking out items and communicating zero stock items.
Job requirements
Experience of industrial installations and control systems.
The ability to fault find and test automated machinery.
Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
Welding and Cutting experience
Knowledge of steam boilers and regulations
Effective communication skills.
A good understanding of health and safety is essential.

Education/Qualification
A recognised mechanical trade qualification to HNC/HND level or above.
