About the role
The Engineering department is responsible for the maintenance and operational function of over six buildings comprising of 150,000 sqm in total. Properties include the Barbican Centre, Guildhall School, Barbican cinemas, student accommodation and other satellite properties.
Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you will oversee a multi-disciplined team of up to 5 technicians and will ensure all statutory and mandatory planned maintenance tasks are completed. You will support the wider engineering team to ensure the building management systems, individual plant and lighting infrastructure are at optimal conditions.
As Shift Team Leader, you will be required to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering services across the Barbican Centre and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as well as be the first point of contact for customers and building users. You will be responsible for distributing planned and preventative maintenance tasks across the shift team, ensuring PPMs are completed regularly and in accordance to SFG20. You will develop a team of 4-5 multi-skilled Technicians using 1-2-1s, training and performance management.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, proactive & adaptable in approach, be fully trade qualified in an appropriate HVAC/Mechanical/Plumbing discipline(s). Electrical trade applicants should hold an electrical Installations qualification (minimum 17th Edition).
You will have the ability to work both alone and as part of a team delivering to the highest possible standards in a totally unique environment.
The hours of work are on a 24/7 rota/shift pattern over 28 days. Shifts are 12 hours including 90 minutes of breaks, but the post holder shall be expected to work the hours necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
