Job Description


We are looking for an Engineering Solutions Lead to join our Waste Network Operations Team.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the Engineering Solutions team in Waste Network Operations, responsible for delivering a suite of both planned and reactive DMC programmes.
We are looking for an ambitious Civil Engineer to manage the day-to-day delivery of planned wastewater intervention programmes, whilst dynamically supporting frontline operations to tackle complex civil engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment.
The role will require line management and leadership duties, while acting as a technical discipline across operations to support skills growth and identify innovation opportunities within project delivery.
We are seeking an engineering professional (civil) who has significant experience within a design and construction delivery background, whilst having core project / programme management skills in relation to budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
Previous experience in either an engineering or operational-based role is critical, with the individual being passionate about driving change and working with stakeholders to combat challenges.
What you will be doing as an Engineering Solution Lead

  • Management of circa. 25 million pounds CAPEX delivery per year.
  • Driving H&S management and CDM practices within programme delivery.
  • Assuring project briefs and programme specifications.
  • Assuring technical specifications and TW design standards.
  • Managing the delivery supply chain alongside the appropriate Contract Manager.
  • Civil Engineering technical support to project / programme delivery and operations.
  • De-risking and solution development.
  • Line management and visible leadership + Ability to network and influence.
  • Building resilience in Civil Engineering of waste operations.
  • Ownership of emergency network outages (rising main / gravity failure incidents)
  • Process improvement in delivery/management of works.
  • Liaison / Networking with internal stakeholders (CD, Major Projects, Developer Services etc.)
What should you bring to the role?
  • Degree educated in Civil Engineering.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Qualified.
  • Waste networks operational experience would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of contracts / commercial delivery mechanisms.
  • Direct experience of pipe replacement techniques (open-cut & trenchless)
  • Experience in waste network design projects.
  • Experience in managing design, delivery, and handover of projects.
  • An understanding of Client, PD and PC duties under CDM 2015 + H&S best practice.
  • Can reactively respond to operations and attend sites around the estate.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own transport.
