As part of the Engineering team, you will report directly to the Maintenance Excellence Lead or Engineering and Site Manager in their absence. The working hours will be 4 on 4 off 12 hr shifts on a rotating of 2-day shift and 2-night shift based on your rota located on Internal Engineering Share point. There may be times when you are requested to work additional hours, to provide support and cover for colleagues during absences, including longer working periods, weekends and bank holidays.

As shift lead you are expected to be present for all handovers when on shift, if additional time is required to allow the handover to be completed properly it is your responsibility to make this happen.

The primary responsibilities of this position are listed below. However, the Site Engineering Manager or any Manager at PDM may request you to fulfil extra duties in line with your job responsibilities. To support the Site Engineering Manager and Maintenance Excellence Lead in the implementation of Reliability centred Maintenance. The Shift Team Leader will conduct both reactive and preventative maintenance task in line with PDM's engineering objectives.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience



Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or

ONC / HNC Or equivalent in either Mechanical or electrical disciplines

or

Degree trained.

If none of the above minimum level 3 C&G With minimum 5 years in

similar industry

Experience within a Maintenance environment.

Strong ability to make logical decisions.

Good communication skills

Ability to prioritise own workload.

Ability to work under pressure.

Main Purpose of the Job:



Carry out autonomous breakdown tasks and preventative maintenance tasks

competently and correctly to agreed schedules.

Ensure all breakdowns are attended in a timely manner and prioritised based

on plant criticality.

You will be expected to gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the

site and processes, machinery and associated equipment

Correct use of the CMMS, Jobs are logged on and off as expected, accurate

details are entered including corrective actions, fault, action and cause codes

are applicable to the work done. DRA are completed before starting any work

and positive release / return to service is completed where required.

Participate in / conduct smooth and detailed handovers between shifts to

ensure oncoming engineers are fully prepared.

To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or

symptoms of impending failure and provide CMMS data.

To be aware of production operating times and using management

downtime set out in the schedules to carry out improvement work.

Previous experience of working with a CMMS system

Ensure all parts used from the stores are booked out correctly through the

CMMS once live.

Contact OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when

required and expedite parts when not available on site.

Motivation of your engineering team through effective leadership, coaching

and development. Using lead by example practices Ensure site rules and

policies are followed and incorrect behaviours are challenged.

Working as ONE TEAM

Complete all paperwork as required, EG Initial Contact and RTW forms for all

absences

The business may setup additional training away from the site that you may

be required to attend.

Priorities responsibilities to ensure housekeeping and hygiene standards are

at an acceptable standard before and after your work to comply to good

manufacturing practices.

Keep workshop and surrounding areas clean and tidy, ensure the daily

workshop cleaning schedule is completed and support the departmental S's

programme

Working to Reduce production waste and downtime time where possible.

Promote a strong safety culture at all times and compliance to current H&S

standards

Carry out contractor control as and when required.

Ensure all tools, materials and equipment and looked after and stored safely

when not in use

Working closely with other departments to maintain a good working and

friendly environment.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:



To Highlighting any Health and Safety Concerns immediately to the Health and Safety Manager / Site Head Engineer and or Shift Manager.

To comply to Health and Safety regulations and making sure you adhered to and are followed by you and other members of staff.

To be responsible for your own safety and do not jeopardise the health and safety of others.

To follow safe working procedures and safety rules.

To follow the correct procedure if accidents occur.

Do not interfere with things provided for your safety.

To co-operate with managers in maintaining a safe place of work.

To ensure suitable personal protective equipment is worn where appropriate

Quality & Documentation Responsibilities:



Follow policies and procedures in conjunction with the food quality management system and retailer-specific technical standards.

Environmental Responsibilities:



To reduce environmental waste where possible by e.g. turning off machines when not in use, turning off lights etc.

To correct, or report, poor environmental practices or conditions.

To make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.

To report instances of energy and other waste and act to correct poor environmental procedures.

To understand and comply with company policy about the environment.
