Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Engineering Technical Specialist is responsible for managing Engineering projects through to completion, working with contractors, suppliers, and all other stakeholders to complete any project in due time and in line with legislative requirements.

The successful candidate must be well-versed in engineering (ideally with a mechanical bias) and able to handle complex projects with ease. In addition, they must have the ability to provide advice regarding the maintenance of the Company's equipment and machinery and other related instruments to support the business operational functions.

This is a day shift position working Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm (finishing at 3.30pm on Fridays).

Key responsibilities include:



Creating detailed designs, specifications, and technical documentation for new products or improvements to existing ones. Utilising Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create 3D models, drawings, and layouts. Assess the usability, environmental impact, and safety of a design.

Project Planning: Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals (including Capex and Improvement projects) in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

Engineering Problem Solving: Troubleshooting design and manufacturing issues and identifying solutions. Identifying and recommending improvements to manufacturing processes.

Documentation: Managing and maintaining technical documentation, such as drawings, reports, and specifications.

Continuously updating knowledge and skills to stay current with industry technology and methods. Exploring new materials, technologies, and processes to improve product performance and efficiency.

Essential requirements include:



Minimum of a Degree level qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited University or College.

Minimum of 5 years Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency of CAD Software including Solid Works and Auto Cad.

A strong understanding of electrical control (e.g. PLCs, Pneumatics, AC/ DC drives, etc.).

Experience in engineering problem solving and fault identification, with use of fault-finding techniques such as 8D and the use of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis).

Excellent operational knowledge of PC applications (typically Microsoft Office Suite/ Microsoft Project).

Experience in lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies would be desirable.

Strong analytical problem-solving ability.

A flexible and dynamic approach, comfortable with changing schedules.

High levels of productivity and integrity.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with employees, Stakeholders and customers.

Ability to achieve a satisfactory result in a company medical and Drug and Alcohol test.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment on the factory floor including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear and gloves.

Desirable Requirements include:



A Six sigma black belt qualification

Statistical Process Control experience.
