We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Engineering Technicians at the 423rd Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Alconbury, United Kingdom.
What will be your primary role?
The primary purpose of this position is to provide programming and base development technical engineering support performing the more difficult and complex tasks for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects of real property facilities including utility systems at RAF Alconbury and Molesworth. You will exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities, advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. You will evaluate and recommend clients' requests for new construction, renovation, and improvements of real property facilities including utility systems for approval and coordinate projects with engineers in a variety of disciplines and/or with architects. In addition, you will work with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering/architectural authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed facility programs/projects.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. General and practical knowledge of a wide range of engineering concepts, methods, principles, practices, and techniques; familiarity with engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, utilities, etc.). Incumbent must possess seasoned judgment, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in engineering, construction, and personnel management
2. Knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control, and budget systems; work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds; automated data processing system capabilities and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements to identify project requirements.
5. Ability to plan and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
6. Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
4. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
5. Hours of work: 37.5 hours weekly. Fixed schedule: Mon-Fri 0800-1600. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization's flexible working policies.
6. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
7. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
8. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
9. It is highly desired that you hold; City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, together with a minimum of three year's work experience in the trade in addition to knowledge of other technical engineering disciplines outside of the primary qualification.
10. You must possess a valid UK driving license (Category B).
11. The position requires the knowledge of numerous regulations and codes of work. From time to time, there are various courses that must be attended to keep up to date with new practices, materials and safety legislation.
12. This position requires the use of a hand-held two-way radio or alternative method of on site communication. You may be required to wear personnel protective equipment when performing on-site inspections.
13. Position requires that you be familiar with software packages currently in use by 423 CES. Training You may be required to obtain necessary proficiency.
