KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Liaise with the Engineering Supervisors to establish that the current priorities are clearly defined on workload.
Provide a high level of technical expertise and advice, in order to maintain an efficient and effective maintenance service to meet the needs of production.
Carry out planned maintenance whenever possible in order to optimise machine efficiencies and minimise downtime.
Carry out daily safety checks on all production and ancillary equipment as required to ensure they comply with health and safety legislation.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the Engineering workshops, boiler house, plant room & effluent plant.
In liaison with the Engineering Coordinator access planned maintenance works to be undertaken by use of mobile phones and or Piranha/Spiceworks's maintenance software.
Maintain accurate records by logging of machine by number, details of problem and downtime, with action taken to rectify problem.
Reports completed on machine downtime for Engineering Management to confirm times/action taken/loss of production.
Report usage of oil and glycol used on all compressed air & ammonia plant. Logging of oil pressures, discharge and suction pressures of both compressed air & refrigeration plant.
Primarily concerned with fault finding & repair on all specialised plant and equipment with a requirement to provide a maintenance service.
Operate all maintenance workshop equipment, e.g. mills, lathes and welding equipment, have the capability to operate all production machinery as required.
Contact with all levels of staff, occasional contact with suppliers, contractors, other staff etc. Shift meetings on a regular basis and occasional written reports in respect of machine condition and small-scale projects.
On job training for newly recruited engineering technicians. Advise incoming shift of problems outstanding by means of shift handover with detailed report.
Prioritise workloads with regard to immediate production requirements.
Work with high pressure air, steam and water systems, ammonia, chlorine and chemicals associated with CIP, e.g. caustic and boiling water, to all Health & Safety/COSHH guidelines.
Prepare risk assessment's & method statements when required to ensure all works are undertaken to ensure the safety of yourself, all employees, contractors & visitors.
Be involved in projects and be able to assist with the installation & commissioning of new equipment.
Ensure all equipment and services are compliant with latest regulations. (Legionella, Statutory Inspections, ATEX, DSEARR, Fixed Wiring, HSE)
To be considered for this role, you must have a reasonable standard of written and spoken English, good attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
