Location: Devonport, Plymouth, PL1 4SG
Salary: 33,866 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, on-site
About the Role
gap personnel are recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a leading defence and marine engineering organisation in Devonport, Plymouth.
This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and regeneration of electrical and mechanical systems onboard Royal Navy vessels undergoing major deep maintenance periods.
You'll be part of a skilled engineering team ensuring equipment and systems are restored to full operational condition, contributing directly to the success of critical naval operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems onboard ships.
- Conduct inspections and report on equipment condition to ensure operational readiness.
- Diagnose and rectify system defects efficiently and accurately.
- Support general marine maintenance tasks as required.
- Maintain accurate records within the maintenance management system.
- Qualified Electrical or Mechanical Technician with strong engineering standards.
- Physically capable of working onboard vessels and within dockyard environments.
- Confident IT skills, including experience updating maintenance systems and defect logs.
- Flexible and adaptable with a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- ONC, Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
