The role
As an Engineering Trainer, you\'ll have a role that\'s out of the ordinary. You\'ll deliver hands on bench-fitting training to military personnel of all levels and experiences. You\'ll be responsible for creating a friendly and supportive environment for development.

Over 450 highly skilled Babcock employees deliver training and support to the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering at MOD Lyneham and the Defence School of Marine Engineering at HMS Sultan for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Marines and Royal Navy trainees. The training aims to provide every trainee the best possible technical training, education and opportunity to maximise their potential and carry out their role in their Front Line Commands.

Day to day, you\'ll:

  • Carry out training processes
  • Teach basic Engineering hand skills to military engineering students, including fitting, drilling and grinding
  • Focus on Health and Safety
  • Maintain classroom control
  • Update training documentation
  • Work in line with all policies and S.O.P.s
Essential experience of the Engineering Trainer:
  • Good craft/technical skills
  • Previous experience of engineering bench fitting/using hand tools
  • PC literate with PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Use of analogue measuring equipment is desirable
  • Previous training experience is ideal, however, if you can bring your technical skills, support and development can be provided once in post.
As the Engineering Trainer, you will work 37 hours 5 days a week with a midday finish every Wednesday.

Qualifications for the Engineering Trainer:
  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds part 3 or above, NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical Engineering ideally)
You must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role but you can start on BPSS.
