Job Description

We are interested in being contacted by candidates who can confidently support our English students at KS3 and GCSE level including supporting students working on exam paper questions.

We are looking for staff who are available to work on Tuesdays as well as possibly Wednesdays and/or Thursdays from 4.00 pm - 7.30 pm each week during term time.

We are looking for applicants who are:

competent and confident in their English subject knowledge up to to GCSE; punctual, reliable and consistently available to work on their assigned days; enthusiastic and friendly with excellent communication skills and high expectations of student behaviour and progress; professional, approachable and able to use their initiative, being responsive and reactive to the needs of their student(s).
When applying, please elaborate on the details of your experience and subject knowledge. We would like to know the exam board(s) you have studied/taught and - for English literature - specifics for the following topics:

Shakespeare's Plays, e.g. Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet 19th Century Literature, e.g. A Christmas Carol, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Modern Texts, e.g. An Inspector Calls, Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies Poetry Clusters, e.g. AQA's Power and Conflict or Love and Relationships, Edexcel's Conflict poetry

Other small admin tasks and duties may include:

updating student tracking sheets; handling resources; light cleaning duties before and briefly after classes, such as wiping down tabletops with antibacterial wipes/spray cleaner.

Required education level:

We require all applicants to have achieved the following minimum grades in English:

GCSE English Language and/or Literature - level 8 / A grade or above Desired but not essential: GCSE Maths - level 7 / B grade or above; A Level (or above) in English literature or language.

Pay: 8.00-12.50 per hour
