At Cornfield School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and structured environment for boys aged 8 to 16 who face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
Located in Littlehampton, West Sussex, on the South Coast, our school is designed to support each student's unique needs, fostering their academic, personal, and social development. We believe in the potential of every child and strive to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in life and become responsible, contributing members of society.
The Role:
We are looking to appoint a Subject Leader for English to start in September 2025. The successful applicant will work alongside our friendly and supportive team of professionals who put the students at the heart of what we do.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate robustness & resilience as the role can be extremely rewarding but very demanding. It is important to be able to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. It is essential to have good organisational skills, the ability to multitask and act as a role model for students.
The ideal applicant will have recent experience of working with children with SEN, however experience in Social, Emotional and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous. Management experience is also an advantage, as well as being able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a good school (OFSTED June 2021) that focuses on supporting SEMH students to become more independent and provide them with skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in life.
This post would be suitable for experienced and recently qualified practitioners wanting to commit to working with challenging students.
Applications are invited from candidates on either TMS or UPS pay scale and visits to the school are strongly advised and encouraged.
