Key Responsibilities
Teach English across all key stages, including KS3, IGCSE, and A Level.
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that promote achievement and enthusiasm for English.
Support students in developing strong analytical, reading comprehension, and creative writing skills.
Contribute to the continual development and refinement of the English curriculum.
Promote literacy and oracy throughout the school community.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation and academic growth.
Participate in extracurricular and enrichment activities such as creative writing workshops, theatre trips, and student-led societies.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high teaching standards and share best practices within the department.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
A strong academic background in English Language and/or Literature.
Proven experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable).
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
A passion for fostering student confidence, creativity, and independent learning.
Preferred:
Experience with
Pearson Edexcel
or
CIE IGCSE
specifications.
Familiarity with the
OCR A Level English Literature
curriculum.
Experience contributing to extracurricular and enrichment programmes.
Previous experience working in a school with a strong pastoral focus.
