English/maths/science Tutor In Sw London

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are looking for English/Maths/Science tutors with experience working with vulnerable young people.

Tutoring is based in SW London boroughs - Lambeth, Wandsworth, Richmond & Kingston.

In this role, the tutor will provide a range of educational interventions and support to a young person currently not in school.

The tutor will work 1:1 (or in some cases 2:1) and in-person, during typical school hours (9am-3:30pm) Mon-Fri. Tutoring will take place in students' homes or community spaces such as libraries.

Context

The Educatch Charity is a tuition/support service with a difference. We deliver intensive support for young people who have struggled in other settings, often due to SEND.

The tutor will work closely with a network of other professional staff, within a highly supportive framework to provide a safety net to " catch" any young person who is slipping through the net.

The tutor will be a professional who cares about vulnerable, complex and sometimes challenging young people, who will do their best to ensure they reach their fullest potential. They will be reliable, punctual and self-motivated but most of all, care about children and young people who require a child-centred service.

Key tasks

1. The tutor will work constructively and effectively to deliver creative individualised learning programmes for our young people.

2. The tutor will devise teaching materials and differentiate work so that what you do is relevant, fun and meets targets set in EHCP's.

3. The tutor will set realistic targets and monitor progress for young people.

4. The tutor will enjoy being part of active partnerships with local agencies to provide additional opportunities for young people to maximise learning in the full sense of the word.

5. The tutor will ensure that the safeguarding of the Young People is paramount, with a clear understanding of KCSIE 2025 and EduCatch's Child Protection Policy and procedures.

Outside of tutoring, you will...

1. Work in a team and/or with colleagues across the organisation and within the local authority.

2. Take part in meetings and professional training as required.

3. Work to variable timetables as agreed with the line manager.

4. Produce reports as appropriate.
