Verizon's Cloud Engineering & Enablement team is looking for Software Development and Automation Engineer. The candidate will be playing a key role in all dev and automation assignments and would be working under the mentorship of a technical lead who would be supporting on timely delivery. You will also get the opportunity to work on SaaS based Performance monitoring Tools like New Relic and Catchpoint and collaborate/engage directly with these vendors to deploy automations, new features around these Products customising it for Verizon.
What you'll be doing...

  • Building applications and automations by following coding standards, building appropriate unit tests, integration tests, and deployment scripts
  • Working closely with business teams, third party vendors, and other internal IT teams to deliver projects on time.
  • Collaborating with platform, cloud, security, and application teams to define automation requirements and deliver optimized solutions
  • Contributing to planning, designing, configuring, testing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining the product platform to meet business needs and demands.
  • Serving as the go-to expert for Terraform and Ansible in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reusable infrastructure code
  • Developing custom scripts and automation tools using Python to extend capabilities and fill operational gap
  • Looking at opportunities to eliminate toil in the system, bring agility in delivery
What we're looking for...
We are looking for a Software Developer and Automation Engineer with knowledge in Cloud, DevOps Tools, Automation, excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Experience in Python development with hands-on experience in deploying and managing applications using AWS Lambda
  • Experience in managing Terraform as an Infrastructure as Code tool, including state management, module creation, provider configuration, and workflow optimization
  • Experience in implementing, and managing solutions leveraging various AWS services like Amazon EC2, Auto Scaling Groups (ASG), Amazon S3, ALB etc
  • Experience in advanced SQL/procedures on MySQL/MongoDB/MariaDB/Oracle/Druid.
  • Knowledge of SDLC with Devops tools and Agile Development.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience developing custom Ansible modules and plugins
  • Experience in Frontend/Web technologies like React.js and backend services.
  • Experience in code review, quality, performance tuning with problem solving and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing Ansible environments for large-scale deployments
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and communication skills to clearly articulate and influence stakeholders.
  • Very good problem solving skills.
