Main /Clinical Duties New registration health checks Height /weight/body mass index assessments Basic medical history Health Promotion including advice on diet, exercise, smoking cessation Sexual Health advice. Cytology Screening advice Breast awareness advice Smoking cessation sessions as intermediary advisor Blood pressure monitoring Venepuncture Assist with routine screening of all asthma, COPD, diabetic and IHD patients Assist with Spirometry under supervision of primary care nurses Urinalysis ECG recording Act as chaperone/assist with clinical examination as required Act as patients advocate promoting patients point of view to others Maintain accurate records of patient care in electronic format using correct codes Report changes in condition of patient/areas of concern to relevant member of clinical staff and ensure documented action is taken To follow relevant protocols, guidelines and best practice, e.g. local protocols, NICE guidance General Responsibilities To contribute to safe working environment for all through adherence to health and safety management systems Correctly handle confidential information in line with your duties, and to actively support information governance policies, processes and systems Support the services approach to equal opportunities, acting in line with the services equality and diversity policy To work at all times within boundaries of ones competence, taking personal responsibility to keep abreast of change To act in a professional manner at all times towards patients and staff Any other duty as requested This is subject to continual review, and any service HCA will be expected to work with the service in delivering continual improvement and amendments to role responsibilities and duties.
