Overall Objective:
To support all the children and young people in our care. To help in providing a fulfilling environment where the children and young people can develop to their full potential.
Qualifications & Training:
Previous experience of working in the care sector is essential. All staff must agree to sign up for and complete their Level 3 Diploma within 18 months of joining the organisation
Health & Safety:
All employees have a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Employees are required to co-operate with management to enable the home to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To act as a professional parent.
2. To have supervisory responsibilities over the team including training and development, performance reviews, shift leading and shift planning.
3. To lead by example and maintain good professional practices in accordance with legislation and guidance.
4. To help create a supportive and positive environment for each young person with particular reference to his or her safety, wellbeing, health and education.
Key elements of the role
1. Ensure safeguarding of all young people.
2. To create a caring and positive environment for each young person with particular regard to their safety, health and education.
3. To contribute to the young person's care plans and risk assessments, their review and implementation.
4. To form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies.
5. To meet the emotional and physical needs of our young people and maximize opportunities for their development
6. To ensure that young people's views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
7. To undertake a 'key worker' role with young people as required.
