Job Description

Join a challenging role as an Enterprise Architect in the public sector. This fixed-term contract position based in Brighton requires a professional with a strong background in technology to shape and implement effective enterprise architecture solutions.
The Principal Enterprise Architect provides strategic architectural leadership across the organisation, defining and maintaining target and transition architectures that align with long-term business objectives. This role shapes technology direction, strengthens governance, and ensures that architecture decisions drive measurable business outcomes.Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain enterprise-wide target and transition architectures, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, frameworks, and standards.
  • Develop and manage architecture roadmaps, principles, and governance processes to support consistent decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on organisational strategy.
  • Lead and mentor architects and technical teams, fostering capability growth and alignment with architectural best practice.
  • Drive architectural governance, risk management, and assurance to enable high-quality, transparent decision-making.
  • Strengthen communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve shared understanding and commitment.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency through proactive portfolio management and reuse of existing assets.
Willing to commute 6 days per month to BrightonWant to work within the Government Sector
Skills and Experience
  • Broad expertise across data, application, technology, and security architecture.
  • Proven track record of applying enterprise architecture frameworks and tools to deliver measurable business outcomes in complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of modern technology ecosystems, including cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure), enterprise applications, and integration technologies.
  • Experience with distributed systems, including event-driven and domain-driven designs.
  • Skilled in developing and optimising architecture governance and assurance processes.
  • Effective communicator able to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to anticipate strategic and policy changes, assess business impacts, and design resilient architectures accordingly.
  • Experience working across organisational boundaries to shape structures, processes, and technologies that enable strategic objectives.
Leadership and Impact
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, helping to shape technology strategy and investment priorities.
