Enterprise Architect (azure | Event Driven | Data Platforms)

Richmond, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Location: UK Remote (with occasional travel to London or Sri Lanka)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: 120,000 - 160,000 + Benefit

About Us

We are a fast scaling, PE backed legal services firm transforming the home moving experience. With a team of 400+ across the UK and Sri Lanka, we're building the next generation of internal systems that power high volume conveyancing and legal operations, with AI and automation at the heart of our future strategy.

Following a recent technology leadership restructure and investor review, we're now hiring a hands on Senior Architect to help define, modernise, and scale our internal systems architecture spanning event driven platforms, data infrastructure, and third party integrations, all within a high impact, pragmatic, delivery first environment.

This is not a corporate or ivory tower architecture role. It's ideal for a Principal Engineer or Staff Engineer who has owned the end-to-end architecture in a smaller organisation, enjoys solving gnarly problems in scrappy and scaling environments, and wants to help shape a tech enabled business from the inside out.

The Role

You'll sit at the technical heart of our product and platform strategy, working closely with our internal process owners, AI-focused product leads, and nearshore dev partners to define and evolve the architecture that powers our legal services engine.

This role will start off solo, reporting into the leadership team and collaborating with our existing 3rd-party developers. Over time, you'll help us bring more of our development capability in-house, forming and mentoring a small team of senior engineers.

What You'll Be Doing

Own the full technology architecture across internal systems, platforms, and integrations Partner with our AI-driven product/process leads to design scalable and resilient solutions Evaluate and evolve existing systems (e.g. CMS, CRM, onboarding, case tools) and reduce tech debt Map current-state architecture and design a pragmatic roadmap for the next 2-3 years Act as internal technical lead in relationships with 3rd-party dev partners Define standards, guardrails, and governance for future builds Eventually help shape and grow a small internal development team
What We're Looking For

Must-Have Experience:

Held end-to-end architectural responsibility in a small to mid-size organisation (e.g. Principal Engineer, VP Engineering, Staff Engineer, or startup/scaleup CTO) Comfortable being hands-on from prototyping to whiteboarding to decision making Strong experience with Azure-based systems and architecture patterns Proven work with event-driven architectures and 3rd-party system integrations Able to assess and evolve existing legacy systems, data pipelines, and dev practices Deep understanding of scaling internal platforms for operational teams (not public SaaS) Comfortable operating with a small number of engineers and limited internal structure
Nice-to-Have:

Experience with data lakes/warehouses as event stores Familiarity with legal tech, workflow automation, or internal business platforms TOGAF or Azure Architect certifications (not essential)
Working Style & Location

UK-based with remote-first flexibility Occasional in-person sessions in London Willingness to travel to our Sri Lanka office 1-2 times per year
Why Join Us?

Influence a whole-of-business transformation from day one Operate close to the leadership team in a fast-growing PE-backed business Own architectural decisions without enterprise red tape Play a key role in embedding AI into legal operations Genuine opportunity to shape the long term technology culture and team
