Role Overview

We are seeking a highly proactive Enterprise Architect to join our growing architecture team. The role involves working with a variety of clients, particularly within the Higher Education sector, where understanding the end-to-end student journey and student lifecycle processes is critical. The successful candidate will bring strong enterprise architecture capabilities, with the ability to align complex systems, business processes, and stakeholder needs. This role combines strategic thinking and hands-on architectural delivery, ensuring that solutions meet both client objectives and industry best practices across diverse sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of enterprise architectures across a variety of clients, with a focus on aligning business goals, processes, applications, data, and technology. Apply architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) to deliver scalable, robust solutions--particularly in support of student lifecycle processes for Higher Education clients. Develop and maintain clear, well-structured architectural artefacts including capability models, roadmaps, solution options, and target state architectures. Collaborate with stakeholders across business and IT to define strategic direction, understand organisational needs, and drive transformation initiatives. Evaluate and assure solution designs, documentation, and delivery to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and objectives. Support digital transformation programmes, advising clients through complex change initiatives and large-scale implementations. Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, including automation, integration enhancements, and improved user or student experiences.

Key Requirements

Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect or Solution Architect in consultancy or complex delivery environments. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, and the ability to apply them pragmatically. Demonstrable experience working with Higher Education clients, with knowledge of the full student lifecycle and related processes. Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to visualise and communicate architectural solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Track record of producing clear, maintainable architecture artefacts and delivering architecture governance. Familiarity with integration patterns and technologies such as SOA, REST/SOAP APIs, and event-driven architecture. Awareness of key compliance and regulatory standards (e.g. GDPR, ISO27001, WCAG 2.1, Cyber Essentials) and how they influence solution design.
