Job Description

This is an exciting new role to be part of Creative Kernow's growing enterprise activities, with an initial focus on the management and delivery of our research and consultation contract with Cornwall Council, for the development of Local Plan 2030-2050 (https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/planning-policy/adopted-plans/).

This contract is split into two strands in 2025/26:

A series of 12 community engagement workshops in locations across Cornwall. The sessions will be day long, split over two locations. They are likely to be drop in and will connect with a wide range of individuals from the community. A team of around 6 Creative Kernow staff members, plus other staffing from Cornwall Council, will be deployed for each session. Supporting the internal teams at Cornwall Council on developing a culture and way or working to deliver the Local Plan. Workshops for this strand of work are around 3 hours long and are with different groups of people from Cornwall Council. They are often around a certain topic or have a particular outcome that needs addressing. These sessions are led by the Enterprise Projects Manager and the Senior Facilitator, supported by a member of the CK team.

Key Responsibilities



Client Relationship Management



Relationship holding and client management Regular meetings and catch ups with clients Work with Director, Cornwall 365 / Director of Creative Enterprise on further tender bids

Workshop Design, Facilitation and Follow Up



Work with Client and Senior Facilitator to design workshops to achieve the required outcomes and outputs Complete research/reading required for the workshops, and incorporate learnings into the facilitation and reporting Lead the workshop and facilitate with Senior Facilitator - talking and listening to a variety of different people in different settings Write up and collate workshops notes post workshops Review and adapt to suit client needs

Project Management



Liaise with other Creative Kernow colleagues and external freelancers to ensure adequate staffing for sessions, and coordinate the workshop team Brief team members involved before each session Carry out logistical tasks around each session including venue booking and catering Market community workshops through social media, local channels etc. Work with local Community Champion on shaping, promoting and delivery of each of the Community Workshops Manage budgets for the Local Plan work and feed into the wider budget and finance of the Creative Kernow group Motivate other Creative Kernow colleagues to be involved in Enterprise projects Manage other enterprise projects where required
The post involves flexible working and will require occasional working at evenings and weekends. We expect the role to expand and grow with our enterprise work.

There is potential to increase hours from 0.6FTE up to 0.8FTE within the initial contracted period, and our aim is to extend this contract beyond March 2026 - dependent on securing further contracts.

Organisational structure



The role is initially responsible to Director Cornwall 365 / Director of Creative Enterprise (we are in the process of re-shaping this role). The post currently has no line management responsibilities but may line manage an assistant / admin level role during the contacted period. The role will be coordinating different Creative Kernow team members who are involved in our Enterprise projects. The Creative Enterprise team is part of Creative Kernow and works closely with the other Creative Kernow projects, with ultimate responsibility resting with the Creative Kernow Board of Trustees.

Person Specification & Key Competencies:



We welcome applications from experienced creative facilitators and project managers as well as consultants from other sectors. There is potential to shape this role as we develop further enterprise activities.

Essential:



Excellent communication and people skills, ability to engage collaborators and consultees successfully Experience of working in consultancy / facilitation roles, ideally in both public and private sectors Ability to work to a brief which may change according to circumstances and needs o Ability to analyse and synthesise large amounts of information Confident in presenting to, facilitating and accommodating a diverse group of people Experience in maintaining positive and productive relationships with partners and clients Able to be flexible and can think on your feet with a positive and can-do attitude Experience in programme or project management including managing budget, competing priorities, communication both internally and externally, and a busy team schedule Valid driver's license and access to own transport

Desirable:



Skilled in designing engaging and productive workshops / consultation session that meet the needs of clients Experience of arranging successful events, with an understanding of the importance of the small details and creating a welcoming space An interest and understanding of the creative sector in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Entrepreneurial flair
We are particularly interested in your ability, experience and potential rather than your qualifications, so there are no formal minimum requirements.

This role is offered at 0.6 FTE initially, but due to the nature of this work, we expect the successful candidate to be flexible over at least 4 working days.
