We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability 6 month internship within our sustainability team.
This placement is ideal for 2025 graduates who are passionate about sustainability and eager to make a positive impact. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop a foundation in sustainability.
The main goals of the graduate placement would be to:
Develop knowledge of sustainability and environmental management within the context of a large organisation.
Gain experience in both the theory and the practical application of sustainability and environmental initiatives and improvements within a complex business.
Assist in the development and implementation of sustainability projects within Equans.
Conduct research and analysis to support sustainability initiatives and measure their effectiveness.
Collaborate with various departments to teams to integrate sustainability into their operations and strategies.
Engage in community outreach to promote social value within Equans.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting the team in their day-to-day activities. Depending on the skillset and interests of the graduate, this can include:
Supporting reporting of the business's carbon footprint;
Supporting the team in data collection and analysis for Sustainability Reports;
Communications and marketing of sustainability initiatives across the business;
Supporting internal audits against ISO 14001 (environmental management systems);Engaging with our supply chain;
Helping organise and promote sustainability events and initiatives;
Collaborating with team members on various tasks and projects.
Additional ad hoc activities include:
Researching sustainability market trends;
Analysing the impact of sustainability initiatives;
Supporting the development and rollout of sustainability strategies.
Engaging in social value activities.
Opportunity to work in other sustainability-related disciplines within the business. including energy management and climate adaptation, and resilience.
Opportunity to work with other site teams of the business, if applicable.
Skills/knowledge required:
Excited to learn and develop
Accuracy and good attention to detail
Proficient in handling assigned work tasks with a creative and forward-thinking approach
Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Prioritising set tasks based on urgency and within a timely manner
Enthusiastic about assisting graduates and students from UWL
Driven with the ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to use IT for database management (including Excel)
