The Chief Sustainability Office is responsible for developing Deutsche Bank's sustainability strategy and driving its implementation across all business divisions, infrastructure functions, and regions. Its core responsibilities include defining the strategic framework, coordinating the Bank's sustainable finance activities, setting Environmental Social Governance (ESG) standards, and overseeing regulatory and disclosure obligations. The Chief Sustainability Office comprises four teams: Strategy & Regional Governance, Execution, Data & Regulatory, Group Sustainability, and ESG Transparency.


As an Environmental and Social Due Diligence Associate you will be part of the Group Sustainability team. The role focused on supporting Deutsche Bank's sustainability policies and frameworks. You'll be responsible for reviewing transactions, conducting due diligence, delivering support to Business teams, and helping develop innovative, sustainable solutions for our clients.


This role requires a strong understanding of environmental and social risks, in-depth knowledge of International Environmental and Social standards together with Deutsche Bank's Policies and Environmental and Social Due Diligence Framework, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities



The key focus of the role will be on the environmental and social due diligence of (new) clients and transactions and the environmental and social performance monitoring on project related financing Undertaken analysis of environmental and social risks ensuring alignment to the Banks relevant policies, as well as associated reputational risk Support deal teams and possible clients advising on required environmental and social requirements to ensure alignment to the Bank's relevant policies Provide subject matter expertise in the development of respective guidelines and processes, and contribute to internal strategic objectives related to sustainability

Your skills and experience



Experience within a financial institute, investment bank, Consultancy or professional services advising on sustainable practices/management, environmental, social and governance issues/regulations Experience in performing due diligence /transactional analysis with an emphasis on environmental and social issues, also in line with internationally recognized standards (such as EP, IFC, OECD, sector specific best practice standards) Knowledge of current ESG regulations and guidelines. Bachelor's degree in natural sciences, environmental management or comparable education or equivalent experience. Highly self-motivated and detail oriented with strong sense of initiative and urgency and with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Playing an international role and working in a dynamic, demanding environment with a pragmatic, proactive and solutions-oriented attitude
