Job Description

We have a new learning programme vacancy at Celanese, Newport. An opportunity has arisen to join the Environmental Health and Safety team. As an EHS Associate, the role will support the team in line with corporate, internal, legal, and national industry standards. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced and varied manufacturing environment where we take pride in delivering flawless performance. You will provide EHS support at one of Europe's premier Thermoplastic Vulcanisate plants, which provides raw materials to the global automotive industry.

An Environmental, Health & Safety Associate's learning programme will take approximately 3 years to complete. During this time the aim will be to achieve NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3) in Year 1, in addition to other relevant Environmental training courses. In Year 3, you will aim to successfully complete NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals or NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. This is the perfect qualification if you want to make health and safety your career. You will not only be helping to keep our employees safe, but you will also be playing a larger role by helping us in our global sustainability strategy in order to protect the planet. The EHS Associate role is a work-based vocational training programme. You will be based at the manufacturing facility for five days at week and will learn on the job.

We will be working with TSW Training. This training provider was founded in 1966 and has been raising the standard of continuous professional development ever since.

Key responsibilities will include:



Assisting with and conducting internal audits and site inspections. Maintaining and updating EHS management systems and records. Supporting the EHS team in incident investigations and reporting. Helping to develop and implement new EHS policies and procedures. Contributing to risk identification and management. Researching and staying up-to-date on EHS legislation and best practices. Promoting a strong safety culture. Working on sustainability goals. Helping with our mission to reduce plastic pellet loss. Reducing energy, water, waste impact on site. Providing administrative support to the EHS team.

What is required:



Passion for health, safety, environment and sustainability. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to think critically. IT competency, particularly with Microsoft Office. A high degree of self-motivation and a willingness to learn. The ability to work effectively in a team.
Applicants must:

Have, as a minimum, four passes at GCSE, Grades A-C including English & Maths

Be enthusiastic and determined to succeed

Self-motivated to ensure all deadlines are met

Have an inquisitive nature

Good communication skills

Have a flexible approach to support a number of different departments

Be a team player

Use own initiative and look for opportunities to improve work processes
