We're looking for an Environmental Innovation Engineer to join our growing team at Cura Terrae Water, formerly EMS (Environmental Monitoring Solutions). You'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering cutting-edge, data-driven solutions to improve wastewater systems, including the application of AI-enhanced optimisation, hydraulic modelling, and advanced analytics.
With programming and data analysis skills, you'll be best placed to extract actionable insights from complex datasets, build predictive models, and support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
Working on high-impact innovation projects across the UK water sector, you'll help transform how wastewater networks are understood, managed, and improved. What You'll Do
Innovation Delivery
Design AI-enhanced, data-driven tools and proof-of-concept solutions using real-world operational data.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure models align with physical and operational realities.
Translate analytics into actionable insights via clear reports and visualisations.
Hydraulic & Geospatial Modelling
Update and interpret models (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, EPA SWMM) for optimisation, planning, and benchmarking.
Perform scenario analyses to test and compare intervention strategies.
Integrate hydraulic modelling with AI and other digital tools.
On-Site Engagement
Support deployment of field sensors and conduct validation activities.
Perform site walkovers and inspections to inform modelling assumptions and innovation success.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout.
What You'll Bring
Experience & Background
Degree ideally in Water, Civil, or Environmental Engineering, General Engineering (or similar).
Hands-on previous working experience with data analytics, forecasting, and modelling.
Technical Skills
Data Analytics experience
Programming experience (ideally Python, MATLAB).
Desirable
Modelling exposure (ideally InfoWorks ICM, EPA SWMM).
Familiarity with GIS tools (ideally ArcGIS, QGIS) and AutoCAD.
AI exposure
Attributes
Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail.
Highly organised, proactive, and collaborative.
Flexible with workload and responsive to business priorities.
