Environmental Microbiologist / Molecular Biologist
Job Description
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Environmental or Molecular Biologist to join our research team (to March 2026 with the possibility of extension). The successful candidate will work on a range of projects investigating microbial and molecular processes in environmental samples -- including soil, water, and organic materials.
You'll be responsible for DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR assays (including high-throughput applications using the Takara SmartChip system), eDNA metabarcoding, and microbial culture. You'll record and verify data, prepare internal reports, and support colleagues in both laboratory and occasional field work.
We're seeking someone with an HND or degree in Environmental or Biological Sciences, strong molecular biology skills, experience handling large sample sets, ability to work on multiple projects and excellent attention to detail. A collaborative approach and commitment to high laboratory standards are essential.
Desirable:
MSc, eDNA metabarcoding experience, bioinformatics skills, and fieldwork experience.Please see attached, at the bottom of the page, a copy of the full job description.
