We are currently seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager based in the UK. Reporting to the Environment Manager, you will help to support our licence to operate across the GB business in the most cost effective and sustainable manner.
This role is being offered on a fixed term basis, ending on 30th September 2026. This is a hybrid role, with regular national travel.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide technical expertise and advice in relation to securing new environmental permits, environmental permitting management, and legal compliance in relation to the following permit types:Part B - LPPC's
Mines Waste
Landfill
Recycling (RAP)
Water Abstraction & Discharge/
Trade Effluents
EA/NRW Transitional Arrangements
The key accountabilities of the role are as follows:To adhere to and positively promote Breedon's safety culture
To build effective working relationships across the business ensuring sharing of best practice and innovation at all opportunities.
Take a lead on the permit application process including completion of relevant documentation and regulatory liaison.
To scope technical solutions, provide practical support and deliver projects that will improve the performance of the business assets in relation to various aspects of environmental management.
To advise on water & waste management regulations & compliance.
To be a representative on MPA waste & water working groups.
Monitoring regulatory and technological change relevant to water and waste permitting and to produce advice on Breedon's impacts and responses.
To Maintain a comprehensive database of all permits and annual returns.
Representing the Company on external bodies and liaising with external stakeholders.
Lobbying and making representations to Government and other political stakeholders on legislation and policy to protect business future strategy.
To Help develop and support the Company's sustainability strategy.
To Assist with Environmental Reporting and Sustainability Data
The key work outputs are as follows:Maintain monthly RAG excel report of development permit progress
In conjunction with the Mineral Resources Manager manage key data for water abstraction, discharge and transitional arrangements.
All permit related data to be accurately recorded/updated on Magpi and LandDocs
Prepare and maintain L&MR related expenditure through Findocs
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level and possess relevant environmental qualifications, along with significant experience of environmental permitting and strong technical skills in sustainability and environmental management.
You will have strong data analysis and validation skills and excellent report writing skills and experience of presentations and workshop delivery. You will also possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop relationships internally and externally, and excellent communication, teamwork and IT skills.
