Job Description

Principal Consultant to Technical Director

Environmental Permitting Specialist

Air Quality Consultants Limited

Role Location

The role will be based in our Bristol, London, Leeds or Warrington offices, with the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements. While our preference is for full-time candidates, we are open to discussing part-time working options for the right applicant.

The Company

Logika Group comprises three sister companies of Air Quality Consultants, Noise Consultants and Logika Consultants. The Group operates from the same offices and works together as a single company, with a shared culture, values, and high standards of work. There is a single senior leadership team across all three companies, and together the Logika Group is made up of more than 140 environmental experts based in the UK and continental Europe.

We provide clients with a wide range of high quality and complementary environmental consultancy services including:

Air Quality, Carbon and Climate Change; Acoustics, Noise and Vibration; Natural Environment (Biodiversity, Flood & Drainage, Landscape Design and Environmental Strategy); Environmental policy development, implementation and evaluation (industrial pollution control, air quality and emissions, chemicals, climate change, circular economy, waste and water policy); and Socioeconomics, GIS, Analytics and Data Science.
Our environmental permitting function complements the services provided by our Environmental Policy and Economics Practice and our impact assessment services delivered for industry. We support our industrial clients to obtain new permits, variations, transfers and surrenders for installation activities and waste operations in sectors including large and medium combustion plant, waste incineration, waste treatment, refining, chemicals, food and drink, non-ferrous metals and surface treatment, amongst others. In addition, our permitting specialists support our Environmental Policy and Economics Practice to deliver industrial emission focussed projects for development banks, industry trade associations and the European Commission, including studies that informed the recent evaluation and revision of the Industrial Emissions Directive and E-PRTR. We have recently supported a Government Agency in South-East Asia to develop emissions policies on sulphur dioxide emissions, and developed guidance, supported by an implementation framework, for the use Continuous and Predictive Emissions Monitoring Systems.

The Role

Due to the continued success of our permitting function, and with an ever expanding order book, we are recruiting at senior level for an experienced individual to take a leading role in the continued development of our permitting service offering but also provide technical specialist input on our industrial emissions policy projects. The specific role will involve:

Taking a lead role on the implementation of the current permitting/industrial emissions strategy for the Group, and refining the strategy in response to new opportunities or changes in legislation. Identifying new opportunities and securing new business through pro-active business development. Acting as a mentor and supporting the development of junior team members through targeted and on-the-job training. As Project Manager or Project Director, leading the development of permit applications, variations, transfers, surrenders; discharge of pre-operational and improvement conditions; and development of associated studies including management plans and BAT assessments. Provision of advice and helping clients to understand their regulatory and legal obligations under the permitting regimes established in the UK. Technical input to national and international industrial emissions policy proposals and projects through our EPE Practice. Keeping informed of emerging developments and changes in legislation/guidance and communicating these developments to the wider Group where relevant.
This is an exceptional opportunity at an exciting time for our business but also for industrial emissions and environmental regulation in general. The team has established positions on a broad range of frameworks with the European Commission and secured work with a wide range of clients including the UK Government, the European Commission, international development banks, environmental NGOs, the UN as well as industry trade associations and individual companies.

With us, you will be involved in development and implementation of Group strategy and play a key role in the delivery of our work. You will have opportunities for business development, international travel and for career progression, working in a friendly, supportive environment.
