We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Environmental Planners at the 48th Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath , United Kingdom.

What will be your primary role?



This is a developmental Environmental Planner position designed to cultivate a well-rounded professional capable of navigating the complexities of Environmental Planning within the Air Force. Under the mentor-ship of a senior Environmental Professional, you will manage, execute, and operate assigned program elements while actively participating in a formal training and development plan.

Responsibilities include managing environmental projects (both in-house and contracted) to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations, implementing short-term goals to support the management plan, and providing expert advice on environmental issues. You will also be responsible for coordinating environmental training programs for the installation. The target grade for this position is S-12, contingent upon meeting all regulatory training requirements

The Liberty Wing also anchored NATO forces during Operations Deliberate Force and Allied Force. What are the Key Skills required for this role?



1. Knowledge of professional environmental principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned projects.

2. Knowledge to troubleshoot environmental problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects or program(s).

3. Knowledge of applicable Federal and local laws, regulations, integration principles and practices, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices; and health, safety, and security practices.

4. Skill to integrate an interdisciplinary team of professionals to include attorneys, public health specialists, public affairs specialists, biological scientists, environmental engineers, physical scientists, general engineers, community planners, regulators, other governmental officials, and community groups.

5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, and establish effective working relationships with others.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?



1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.

3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.

4. Overtime may be required.

5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.

6. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

7. Your work hours will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 08.00-16.30) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

8. This position is designated a Non-Critical APDP position. Category: Facilities Engineering S-13 and below: Level II. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act certification requirements applicable to the career category designated on the position description within 24 months of assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.

9. The work requires you to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, UK valid driver's license (Category B) is required for the position.

10. You may be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency.

11. You may be required to obtain job-related certifications.

12. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position; UK NATO required.

13. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing; however, positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
