Overview

We currently have exciting new opportunities in our Housing and Regulatory Service. The work is challenging and offers you the opportunity to use and develop your skills to the full within our Strategic Environmental Protection Team.

You will be mainly home based with the occasional need to visit our offices in Aylesbury, Amersham or High Wycombe for things like team building and meetings.

The Strategic Environmental Protection Team is responsible for working on major infrastructure projects, air quality management, land quality, providing environmental consultancy services, private water supplies, integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC), environmental impact assessment, nuisance, planning and licensing consultations.

About the role

The role is based in our reactive team and is responsible for responding to service requests and providing appropriate advice and guidance to businesses and members of the public. You will also review basic scientific data and reports. Depending upon your background, you may also have the opportunity to get involved with events, licensing and planning applications.

As a new service we are constantly looking to improve our service delivery, developing new and innovative ways of working and using technology.

Mobile:

A \'mobile\' role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You\'ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.

About you

We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, possessing good communication skills and a positive approach to customer care.

Applications are welcome from graduates with qualifications in environmental health, environmental science, pollution control or equivalent.

In addition, we may also consider those with relevant work experience in an Environmental Protection/ Environmental Health team or similar role.

Experience in investigating statutory nuisance would be an advantage.

We are also able to provide on the job training and shadowing to allow you to expand your knowledge in work areas that may be new to you.

This job does require carrying out site visits, but we actively encourage the team to adopt a flexible working approach to improve their work-life balance.
