The purpose of the post is to execute the environmental compliance delivery programme of work and the job holder will be responsible for performing environmental activities and supporting document delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Dounreay is recruiting for two environmental specialists. One of the two roles is focused on hydrogeology/hydrology. This role will have a wide ranging remit, from working outside gathering data from sensor suites, through data quality control and numerical modelling. The other role will be attached to our environmental monitoring and beach monitoring programmes and will require someone with a good understanding of general geosciences, mathematical modelling or environmental sciences. Together these roles will join a team focused on the delivery of environmental compliance and statutory reporting.
Job responsibilities:
Implement the environmental management processes & standards, within the Dounreay integrated management system as appropriate to deliver environmental compliance
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to expedite efficient safe project delivery
Delivery of comprehensive statutory reports in a timely fashion
Produce, model, interpret and report environmental data sets
Support the project manager in the day-to-day delivery of tasks and problem solving
Write and review technical reports, documentation and assessments
Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post
Plan and supervise site investigations including sampling, drilling and trial pitting
The job holder will also:
Produce and maintain environmental monitoring reports (environmental monitoring programme report, water monitoring reports for specified facilities)
Coordinate with internal stakeholders (environmental sampling team, laboratories among others)
Initiate the regulatory reporting process based on defined events
Liaise with external stakeholders as needed to ensure timely service and information provision
Aptitudes and experience:
HND engineering/scientific or equivalent qualification plus experience
Demonstrable environmental experience
Demonstrable experience within the nuclear industry
Excellent interpersonal & communication
Ability to plan work and develop and deliver work to challenging timescales
Ability to develop innovative solutions for technical problems
Interest in site work and coordination of sample collection exercises
Post specific physical capability analysis assessment
