As part of our ongoing growth and commitment to responsible construction, Luddon Construction is seeking an experienced Environment & Sustainability Advisor to support the effective delivery of environmental and sustainability standards across our operational divisions, including civil engineering, utilities, Energy, and building projects.
Recent awards, such as a major infrastructure framework with SP Energy Networks, highlight the scale and importance of our work in supporting a more sustainable built environment. This role will play a critical part in ensuring we meet both legal and client expectations across our diverse project portfolio.
The Role
You will work with project teams across multiple sites to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, embed sustainability initiatives, and drive continual improvement in environmental performance. This includes developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), supporting waste and carbon reduction, and promoting best practice across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
Provide environmental and sustainability advice to site and project teams
Prepare, review, and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
Conduct site inspections and audits, reporting findings and recommending improvements.
Promote and support initiatives in areas such as waste reduction, carbon tracking, biodiversity, and water and energy efficiency
Collate, analyse, and report on environmental performance data for internal and client use
Liaise with regulators, clients, and other stakeholders where required
Deliver environmental awareness training and contribute to toolbox talks and briefings
Integrate environmental risk controls into RAMS and health and safety processes
About You
We are seeking a confident, proactive individual with strong technical knowledge and a practical, hands-on approach. You will be passionate about sustainability, confident working independently across multiple sites, and able to influence behaviours and drive improvements across teams.
Person Specification
Essential:
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
Experience in a similar advisory role within construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering
Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and ISO 14001
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Membership of IEMA, CIWEM, or equivalent professional body
NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or internal auditor training
Experience engaging with regulatory bodies, clients, or planning authorities
