Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Sustainability Assistant to support the delivery of environmental and sustainability initiatives across our construction projects. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, helping to shape responsible practices, monitor performance, and contribute to continuous improvement in line with our corporate and regulatory commitments.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the sustainability team, you will:
Assist in developing and maintaining Construction Environmental Management Plans and related documentation
Support project teams with sustainability advice and day-to-day environmental queries
Help collect, analyse, and report environmental data (e.g. waste, fuel, procurement)
Participate in compliance audits and assist in resolving environmental incidents
Liaise with subcontractors to promote environmental best practices
Support applications for permits, licences, and exemptions
Contribute to sustainability performance reviews at site and regional levels
Monitor environmental targets and suggest improvement opportunities
Help develop case studies and communications showcasing sustainable practices
Assist in identifying sustainable solutions for projects and wider initiatives
Support the delivery of environmental and climate awareness training
Create content for internal communications and sustainability reports
Help coordinate submissions for environmental and sustainability awards
Contribute to sustainability input for PQQs, bids, and tenders
Support carbon management activities aligned with PAS 2080
Assist in gathering evidence for BREEAM and other sustainability certifications
Essential Criteria
A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline
A strong interest in the construction or infrastructure sector
Basic understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability principles
Good analytical skills and confidence working with data
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable Criteria
Internship or placement experience in an environmental or sustainability role
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, PAS 2080)
Awareness of carbon management, biodiversity, and circular economy concepts
Experience using digital tools for reporting or collaboration
