(Salary = 33,943 pro rata based on part-time: 15 - 22.5 hours per week)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Officer to join the team at CIEEM, the professional membership body for ecologists and environmental managers working to protect nature across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will help spearhead our work with our members and stakeholders to create a more equitable, diverse and inclusive profession.
This will be a busy role and would be suited to someone who is committed to delivering great internal and external customer service.
The role is based either at Ampfield, in Hampshire with the option of up to 50% home working, or for candidates living outside this area, can be based from home.

Purpose of the post:
The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) is the professional membership body for applied practitioners of the science of ecology and environmental management. CIEEM provides training and development opportunities for members, publishes practice guidance and acts as the voice of the profession through its effective, evidence-based and knowledgeable input into, and support for, environmental policy.
Created as part of our Championing Change agenda, this post will support our work to help create a more diverse and socially inclusive profession by raising awareness of issues and barriers to inclusion with our members and their employers, supporting professional development and communications activity designed to help them understand how to tackle these barriers and developing and coordinating outreach activities to engage with under-represented audiences and promote careers opportunities.
Key Result Areas:
1. Promoting an equitable, diverse and inclusive profession
i. Research and promote E, D and I issues and share best practice
ii. Organise an annual programme of online events and activities to highlight issues and promote good practice on E, D and I within the sector.
iii. Raise and maintain the profile of E, D and I issues through blogs, In Practice articles, podcasts and other relevant communication activities.
iv. Lead engagement with members, partner bodies, organisations and other stakeholders on common E, D and I policy and practice areas to achieve shared goals.
v. Proactively, and in collaboration with colleagues, seek funding and sponsorship for E,D and I initiatives.
vi. Work with the Education and Careers Manager to develop resources and to promote ecology and environmental management career opportunities to young people from under-represented sectors through the Green Jobs for Nature initiative.
2. Promoting an equitable, diverse and inclusive professional body
i. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge on relevant E,D and I legislation and good working practice and advise the senior leadership team of key changes, issues and opportunities.
ii. Provide advice, guidance and support to members on E, D and I issues.
iii. Proactively provide advice, guidance, support and leadership to internal colleagues on E, D and I issues, helping to ensure that activities and processes are inclusive and fair in accordance with good practice.
iv. Identify, support and monitor the implementation of actions designed to improve CIEEM's diversity and inclusion performance, as measured by a relevant performance framework.
v. Collect, analyse and report on E, D and I data relating to Secretariat staff, volunteers and members, contributing to internal and external monitoring reports as required.
3. Other Duties
i. Comply with CIEEM's policies and procedures in support of good working practices and performance.
ii. Perform any duties of a similar nature as required by CIEEM.
