This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement and will be based in

Bradford

. There will be an expectation to visit sites in the Yorkshire region there a full valid driving licence (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement for this role.




Work type:

Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

The

Escape Optimisation Engineer

will play a critical role in ensuring that the business delivers its upper quartile performance. To ensure our regulatory Performance Commitments are achieved, through review and audit of Flooding Incidents, resulting in the delivery of learnings to drive performance. As well as assuring the accurate recording of Network Escapes through management of process adherence and accuracy, whilst also supporting timely reporting to internal & external stakeholders.





This role will provide; thorough quality assurance of our data; coaching and support within the team; robust interrogation of reports and assessments as well as taking responsibility for mapping and optimising processes all geared around improving sewer flooding performance and ability to provide accurate information that supports our regulatory position.

As our

Escape Optimisation Engineer,

you will:


You will monitor sewer flooding events through Escape Report data, interrogating and challenging the assessment to ensure that we provide accurate data to Ofwat. You will also review data to identify areas for improvement in processes and systems and then follow these through to thoroughly embed improvements in the department You will need to gain support for change from the business where investigation identifies a need to do things differently. The Escapes Optimisation Engineers will work closely with the Senior Escape Technicians and Network Escapes Technicians, You will be responsible for any in-year and year end reporting of escapes is accurate and in line with guidance. The role involves team working, so you will also need to be flexible in both where you can work, and in sharing workloads with others



What skills & experience you will need:






Be able to demonstrate a strong technical background in wastewater. Good understanding of wastewater assets, common failure modes and solutions. Subject matter expert on Sewer Flooding Incidents, associated regulatory guidance and regulatory measures, particularly Sewer Flooding and Collapses. Ability to acquire, understand and interpret both technical and financial information. Experience in analysing and interpreting complex data to meet regulatory targets, therefore rigorous attention to detail and problem-solving skills are key. Proven planning ability - identifying priorities and actions to assist in delivering results. Experience of incident management and crisis response. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications, YW Applications (including but not limited to, SAP, ICE and ICOM systems). Ability to work flexibly, in a busy team environment, using your own initiative, be self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, a confident communicator in written, verbal and face to face communication to build and maintain a network of working relationships i.e. contract partners and key stakeholders. Strong Influencing and negotiating skills at both operational and management levels Identifying and solving issues in a timely and effective manner, with the ability to multi-task to ensure that network activity doesn't have an adverse impact on network stability or customer service. You will be future focused, change oriented and be able to generate new ideas. A current valid full UK driving licence (No more than 6 points)



You will also benefit from having:






Ideally, you will have knowledge of YW telemetry and ICOM systems and it is desirable that you of previous experience in the use of SAP and Odyssey systems. Ideally, you will have an understanding or the Electrical & Maintenance aspects of the network. Ideally, you will have previous experience in treatment processes.
