Job Purpose and Mission

This role is an opportunity to join Starbucks EMEA and will be responsible for all ESG (environmental, social and governance) external and internal reporting, providing comprehensive oversight/analysis and a reporting framework for Starbucks EMEA to meet the evolving compliance landscape and driving best practice contributing to the achievement of our global sustainability goals to halve our carbon, water, and waste footprints by 2030.
The role operates across the full breadth and depth of sustainability strategy in EMEA; the successful candidate will be an integral member of the regional ESG subcommittee, and a key contributor to supporting US requirements.

This role requires strong knowledge on key reporting frameworks such as Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures), GHG (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) as well as experience of undertaking audits in line with International Standards on Assurance Engagements. The individual will develop, manage and be accountable for detailed corporate ESG reporting requirements across the EMEA region, as well as ensuring that senior members of the EMEA and US Group team are fully briefed on all ESG relates matters.

The successful candidate needs to be a strong communicator; with strong technical experience in the ESG field; a relationship builder, and pro-actively educate themselves and the wider Starbucks team with regards to evolving ESG related matters in an effective and efficient manner.

Summary of Key Responsibilities * Custodian of financial ESG reporting requirements for each legal entity in the EMEA region by collaborating effectively across EMEA and US teams, as well as utilising expert help from 3rd party consultants

  • Ensure ESG reporting requirements are managed effectively and efficiently, by addressing each criteria with a defined scope to time, cost and quality constraints
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate stakeholders and sponsors across both external and internal teams to ensure alignment of evolving ESG requirements
  • Oversees cross-functional team in developing robust and detailed work plans, defining approach, timing and key deliverables for ESG reporting requirements to ensure timelines are met
  • Ensuring compliance to relevant local and international standards, laws and regulatory requirements through keeping up to date with the latest technical forums and developments in the ESG space
  • Consolidate and review ESG reporting data and assessing it for areas of risk and ensuring the quality of the supporting data to provide appropriate reporting standards
  • Providing technical advice on emerging accounting standards for example IFRS S1 and S2, and perform impact assessments to present to senior management
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implementation the ESG Policies, Process, Procedures and Guides and update in line with changes in laws, regulations, and corporate directives
  • Support management in driving the education, communication, training, and implementation of the ESG standards across the company in all operational areas, including its associated business activities, licensees, and supply chains
Key Job Dimensions & Scope of Role
  • End to end project subject matter expert and management of financial ESG reporting requirements across EMEA
  • Extensive cross-functional collaboration across internal (across EMEA and US) and external consultants
  • Travel is not usually required for this role
  • Normal working hours, however, flexibility may be required on occasion depending on business needs
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • A Qualified Chartered Accountant, with experience in ESG reporting.
  • Proven track record of managing ESG disclosures.
  • Knowledge of the rapidly changing landscape of ESG reporting requirements and a proven record of working cross-functionally to drive changes needed to meet these requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to; manage multiple workstreams simultaneously; integrate strategic thinking with tactical implementation; establish best practices and collaborative ways of working
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing in-person & virtual, cross-functional project teams to achieve high-stakes delivery goals.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Ability to continuously prioritise, set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Comfortable working in an environment of consistently competing priorities
