Purpose of Role



The Programme Manager - ESG Implementation will be responsible for leading the end-to-end deployment of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) systems across a group of manufacturing companies. This role encompasses the design, implementation, training, governance, and ongoing improvement of ESG systems to ensure compliance, performance tracking, and continuous improvement in line with best practices and company objectives.

Specific Responsibilities



ESG Strategy Implementation

Lead the execution of ESG strategy by developing and implementing group-wide ESG systems tailored to the manufacturing environment. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align ESG initiatives with operational goals and regulatory requirements.
System Deployment & Integration

Select or design ESG data management systems for tracking carbon emissions, waste, energy usage, workforce diversity, compliance, and other KPIs. Ensure full integration with existing operational systems (e.g., ERP, QMS, EHS).
Training & Change Management

Design and deliver a comprehensive training program for all relevant teams to ensure proper adoption and usage of ESG systems. Serve as the primary change agent to promote ESG awareness and capability throughout the organisation.
Governance & Compliance

Develop governance structures and policies to monitor ESG performance and ensure ongoing compliance with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., CSRD, GHG Protocol, ISO 14001). Conduct audits and internal reviews to ensure system integrity and policy adherence.
Continuous Improvement

Establish feedback loops to refine ESG systems and processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data insights and best practices in ESG.
Reporting & Communication

Manage regular ESG reporting, including board-level updates, regulatory filings, and stakeholder communications. Maintain dashboards and KPI scorecards for senior leadership and operational teams.

Key Skills & Competencies



Experience

5+ years of project management experience in complex, multi-site environments, preferably in manufacturing. Proven track record of implementing sustainability or ESG-related systems and policies. Experience managing cross-functional teams and change management initiatives.
Skills & Competencies

Strong project planning, organizational, and leadership skills. Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder engagement abilities. Data-driven mindset with familiarity in ESG reporting software and tools. Knowledge of ESG regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and influence at all levels of the organisation.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) preferred. ESG or sustainability qualifications (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISO standards) highly desirable.
This is a permanent position based at our site in Burnley

Working a 39-hour week

7.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 7.45 to 1pm on Friday

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 35,000.00 per year
