We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support a family-run estate with a diverse portfolio, including commercial and residential properties, development projects, and farming activities, offering variety and long-term stability.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in estate, agricultural, or mixed-use property bookkeeping, who enjoys working closely with owners and external advisers.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Process invoices, payments, receipts efficiently, manage rent schedules, and tenant invoicing.
Manage monthly payroll for employees (4-6), including statutory payments and pension contributions.
Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns.
Support year-end preparation, including balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements.
Liaise with external accountants, advisers, and HMRC where necessary.
Some office administration, HR and other estate record-keeping
Skills & Experience
Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within the property, construction, or agricultural sectors.
Strong working knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage, and digital tools such as Dext.
Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and presentation skills.
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
A full UK driving licence and own car are essential due to the rural location.
