Job Description

Lockwood Estates is a family-owned arable farming business based seven miles north of Lincoln, with approximately 5,300 acres under management. In addition to arable farming, we have over 240 acres of mixed woodland, a diverse environmental stewardship scheme across the estate, horse paddocks and grazing land for livestock.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Estate Groundsman to join our team. The successful applicant will work closely with both the farming and estate management teams to maintain and enhance the estate grounds, woodland, and surrounding environment. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a proactive approach who takes pride in delivering quality work, supported by the use of high-quality machinery and tools.

Responsibilities:

Forestry

Felling, thinning and re-stocking woodland areas Planting, crown lifting, high pruning and removal of fallen trees Firewood collection
Estate Maintenance

Weed control on hard standings, yards, tracks and paths Clearing and maintaining public rights of way Ground clearing and tidying for larger projects Grass cutting and strimming Upkeep and repair of fences External property maintenance for vacant residential properties Supporting wider farm operations as needed Hedgerow management, to include gapping up, and manually cutting any non-agricultural hedgerows.

Skills & Experience:

Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a flexible and proactive attitude Able to work independently and as part of the wider farm team Working knowledge of trees: species identification, growth patterns, health and pests and diseases management Experience with agricultural machinery and hand tools Health and Safety awareness - willing to undertake relevant training

Qualifications:

Full UK driving license (required) Chainsaw Certification - NPTC Level 2 or 3 Award (recommended) Safe Use of Pesticides - PA1 & PA6 (recommended)
