Canterbury Cathedral is the cathedral of the archbishop of Canterbury, the leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Located in Canterbury, Kent, it is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site.


To provide a reception service to the departments, dealing with: telephone calls, radio calls, department emails, all visitors, subcontractors and to act as the general point of contact for all other Cathedral departments.

Coordinate and disseminate all information, job requests, and inquiries coming into the maintenance office and attendance at weekly management meetings. As directed, order materials, PPE, equipment and check delivery notes against purchase order and invoices. With appropriate training and as directed to administer the input of purchase order invoices/credit notes and check supplier statements. Raising and issuing invoices for estate tenants and departmental services. In consultation with the Head of Estates and Fabric and department managers to receive and input time sheets, leave requests and staff sickness administration. Managers are responsible for the allocation of tasks and liaise with staff about leave and sickness in accordance with cathedral policies. To maintain an efficient and accurate central filing system both paper and electronic for the Estates and Fabric Departments, paying particular attention to: delivery notes; statutory records; authorisations; supplier information, vehicle service/MOT records, leases / tenancy agreements and appropriate archiving of records. Maintaining the estate departments asset register and keeping tenancy details up to date, contact details, rent due and statutory compliance information. Maintaining the cyclical compliance log for the estate properties, for example ensuring timely gas safe and electrical safety reports, fire alarm servicing, EPCs etc. Liaising with Estate Tenants to ensure appropriate access for contactors and maintenance staff, and issuing and receiving tenants documentation relevant to their occupation. Create new job codes for on-going work, liaising with the accounts department as necessary. With training and liaison with Estates & Fabric departmental managers, create ensure the entries on Exchequer reconcile to the annual budgets.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent. Experience in a similar position with excellent organisational skills. Strong administrative background, preferably in a construction environment. Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft outlook, Word and Excel. Understanding of and sympathy with the aims and purposes of the Cathedral, its mission and ministry. Knowledge and experience of book keeping and/or job costing. Knowledge and experience of records management
