Job Title: Estates Officer
Location: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS)
Contract: Full-time | Temporary
Banding: Band 6
Overview:
Join the Estates team at NIAS and play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of a safe, efficient, and compliant healthcare estate. Reporting to the Head of Estates, this position ensures the Trusts facilities are fit-for-purpose through effective maintenance, compliance, project delivery, and contract management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage planned, reactive and preventative maintenance services across the estate
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety, statutory, and environmental legislation
  • Manage contractors and estates/facilities maintenance contracts in line with governance standards
  • Deliver and assist with major/minor works, refurbishments, and upgrades (M&E, building fabric, alarms, etc.)
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, contractor performance, budgets, and procurement activities
  • Assist in drafting business cases, quotations, and tenders
  • Contribute to energy efficiency, sustainability, and statutory compliance across all facilities
  • Maintain accurate records and data using CAFM systems
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external bodies such as HSC Trusts, BSO PaLS, and Health Estates
Essential Criteria:
  • Degree/HND in a relevant discipline (e.g., Building Services, FM, Engineering, Surveying) or 5+ years estates/facilities management experience
  • Experience managing contracts and delivering solutions in at least 2 of the following: Building Maintenance, Mechanical Services, Electrical Services
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills
  • Full UK driving license and access to transport
Desirable:
  • NEBOSH certificate or H&S qualification
  • Experience in health, public, or local government sectors
  • Proficiency in CAFM and CAD systems
