Responsibilities

Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather relevant pricing information Develop detailed budgets that include labour, materials, equipment, and overhead costs Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes or new information Ensure all estimates align with organisational standards and client requirements Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and bid proposals Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards Maintain organised records of all estimating activities for future reference and audits

Skills

Proven experience in estimating within relevant industry sectors Strong understanding of cost control techniques and budgeting processes Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) Effective communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders Organised with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
