To help us achieve this, we are seeking an experienced
Estimator / Quantity Surveyor
to support our sales and operational delivery through accurate surveying, estimating, pricing, and cost control.
The Role
Reporting to the
Sales & Estimating Manager
, the Estimator / QS will be responsible for generating accurate quotations, assessing site requirements, supporting cost planning, and helping secure profitable work.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring our proposals are commercially sound, competitive, and aligned with company margin targets. This role combines both office-based estimating and on-site surveying across Central Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out on-site roofing surveys for repairs and replacements, although this will mainly be done by our Roof Surveyors on domestic properties.
Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and supporting documentation.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and site information to prepare pricing.
Work closely with the sales and operations teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
Maintain accurate records of measurements, material costs, and labour requirements.
Assist with tender submissions and homeowner proposals.
Monitor project costs against budget and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing and maintain cost databases.
Produce clear, confident customer proposals aligned with Taylor Roofs' brand and values.
Maintain strong communication with clients, building trust and clarity throughout the process.
Success will be measured by:
Accuracy of estimates and margin performance
Timeliness of survey ? quote turnaround
Conversion rates and customer satisfaction
Quality of handover to operations
The Person
You are analytical, organised, and commercially aware, with strong communication skills and attention to detail. You take pride in delivering accurate, timely information and enjoy solving problems in a customer-focused environment.
Essential Experience
Experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor within roofing, construction, or similar trades.
Strong understanding of materials, labour requirements, and pricing methodologies.
Ability to conduct surveys confidently and safely.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Excellent communication -- able to speak confidently with homeowners.
IT proficiency in job management or estimating software (training available).
Desirable
Roofing knowledge and technical understanding.
Experience working in a homeowner-focused environment.
Familiarity with
BigChange JobWatch
or similar platforms.
Understanding of EOS-style accountability frameworks.
