Key Responsibilities



Project Estimation

Prepare bid proposals are prepared and submitted in a timely manner ensuring all required information is included and bids are competitive. Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that everything required to successfully bid and win the project is understood and clearly communicated. Set up trackers and agree timelines with the client, our design, and commercial teams ensuring they are closed out as early as possible and properly documented. Monitor team to ensure these timelines are being followed. Continuously monitor the progress of projects to ensure alignment with initial estimates and adjust forecasts as necessary. Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies. Maintain detailed records of estimates, including assumptions, methodologies and backup documentation. Stay current with industry trends, construction methods, and cost management practices to ensure competitiveness and to improve estimating processes and accuracy. Assist our internal commercial team to get into full contract as early as possible on each project on design related items/issues. Review subcontractor design proposals and ensure they are incorporated into the overall design. Review contract documents such as Employers' requirements, Tender RFIs, Construction programs, Tender returns/qualifications, and design information (specifications, energy strategies, and reports) once a project has been awarded. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors. Participate in post-tender negotiations and handover meetings.

Communicate with Internal and External Stakeholders:

Attend ongoing appointments with specialist subcontractors and suppliers as necessary. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and resolve any discrepancies. Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing. Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms to ensure competitive bids. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and proposals to clients and participate in negotiations as needed. Manage, maintain and create new connections and relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and professional teams. Liaise with estimating & preconstruction to ensure that all relevant information is captured in the tender handover files and implemented in the design.

Technical Responsibilities:

Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare comprehensive and differing forms of tenders, budgets, cost estimates, etc. for construction projects. Conduct thorough quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to determine material and labour costs for each project. Utilise estimating software and tools to generate detailed cost breakdowns and proposals. Oversee management of team analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.

: Must be experienced in reading of drawings and have excellent attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy in tender preparation. Excellent logical skills.

: Follow our current structure, keep records up to date and have the ability to work independently, and multitask when required. Methodical and organised approach to work. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, problem solve and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment in order to meet challenging deadlines.

Time Management skills:

Work unsupervised and prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently. Proactive, Reliable & punctual. Be able to manage your time effectively to meet tender deadlines under pressure. Be able to manage the team's time effectively and adjust milestones to meet changing priorities and requirements.

Technical Skills:

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
o Use of estimating software such as Causeway, Bluebeam, CostX, Candy, or Excel

Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes and contracts. High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates and documentation. Problem solving attitude to work. Proficiency in construction estimating software will be an advantage. Experience with value engineering and cost optimisation strategies is a plus.

Key Requirements



Experience

: Minimum of 1 years experience in construction estimating.

Technical Literacy

: Ability to read engineering plans, CAD Drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Analytical Skills

: Attention to detail and precision.

Teamwork and Communication

: Ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers Ability to manage a small and diverse team of Estimators.

Transport

: Own method of transport.

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Surveying or related field (or equivalent work experience). Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes and contracts.

Nice to Have (Preferrable but not required)

Professional certifications such as CIOB, RICS or similar are desirable but not essential (subject to level of experience).

Pay: 37,000.00-42,000.00 per year
