We're seeking an experienced and motivated Estimator to join our Property Services team at North Yorkshire Highways. As an Estimator within our Property Services team, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for building maintenance and capital works. This position demands a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills to interpret project specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and subcontractors to ensure every estimate aligns with client expectations and organisational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Analyse project specifications and drawings to determine scope and requirements.
Maintain cost databases and provide value engineering options to optimise budgets.
Assist with tender submissions, bid proposals, and procurement processes.
Evaluate bids, support contract negotiations, and identify cost risks with mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure clarity and accuracy in cost-related matters.
Promote safe working practices and maintain accurate records using company systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
HNC or equivalent in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
Proven experience in construction estimating within civil engineering or building projects.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry pricing.
Strong understanding of construction methods, National Schedule of Rates, and standard contracts (NEC, JCT).
Prior technical knowledge of all road and construction jobs and relevant methodologies
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
