WHAT YOU\'LL DO

This role supports Electrical Engineering through vehicle test and verification, the role is laboratory based and requires hands on skills. The individual will work alongside the Lead Engineer - Electrical Test Laboratories and various customer Electrical Engineering Teams in the day-to-day operation and development of the Electrical Test Laboratories. This could include the build, maintenance and assisted operation of the test commodities.

You\'ll contribute to the delivery of the system/software under development, to meet the business and customer requirements on time at appropriate quality and cost.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Being an active member of the expanding EE Laboratory Operations team, supporting the programme/platform test verification delivery in conjunction with the EE Depts
  • To collaborate with the customer teams to develop new ways of testing and supporting the technological development of the JLR vehicles
  • To advise the customer teams of good working practices and solutions to their technical validation challenges
  • Implementation and monitoring of processes and procedures within the laboratory
  • Ensure high levels of Facility tidiness and cleanliness at all times in line with company process (5s, Office Standards)
  • Working with customer teams to meet the technical/facility requirements needed for their operation which could include design/manufacture of test rigs, developing new ways to use existing facilities for new technologies, developing new test solutions for future test programs
  • Delivery of Jobcard tasks
  • Supporting the technicians, ensuring a correct level of skills are available.
  • Supporting EE Operations with facility maintenance, carrying out preventative maintenance activities
  • Pro-actively assist in creation and refinement of processes and procedures in the EE operation facility.
  • Engage with the implement of all Health & Safety, ISO45001, ISO14001, TS16949, COSHH & "Lean" procedures and standards as required by the business.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:
  • Preferred Educated to HNC/Degree level in automotive electrical engineering/allied discipline is desired or proven time served delivery in a similar role will also be considered.
  • Good understanding of vehicle electrical and/or electronic system testing techniques.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of advanced diagnostic techniques and Network management
  • Competent IT skills, especially MS Excel & Word.
  • Able to gain respect and support of others within and outside the immediate team structure.
  • Creative and open to new ideas, test processes and techniques
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture
  • Automotive HV systems experience
