European CLO Reporter

GlobalCapital is looking for someone to drive its coverage of the European CLO market.



This is an opportunity to shape our coverage of an exciting area of the capital markets, at the intersection of private credit, structured credit and the broadly syndicated loan market.



Based in our London office, the CLO reporter will work alongside other journalists covering securitisation and loans, as well as a section editor for their market.



The job offers the chance to work on a huge range of content -- writing analysis and insight, gathering market data ad appearing on the weekly securitisation podcast Another Fine Mezz, and more besides. The CLO reporter will also be an ambassador for the organisation within the capital markets.



This is an exciting time to join a storied but rapidly growing brand in the capital markets, with big plans to expand its coverage of securitisation.

Responsibilities



Drive GlobalCapital's coverage of the European CLO market, covering the latest deals, trends, themes as well as providing accurate, timely data to our proprietary datasets.

Get to know the market and its key players to maintain GlobalCapital's reputation in what is one of the most important markets it covers.

Contribute opinion pieces, longer features and analysis and make weekly appearances on our podcasts.

Be the voice of the European CLO market within the newsroom, pitching story ideas, championing special report ideas, and writing for them, and providing insight and a source of collaboration for the rest of the editorial team to make sure GlobalCapital is at the forefront of the newest trends and ideas in capital markets.

Write with accuracy in the house style and to tight deadlines, to maintain GlobalCapital's distinctive editorial voice and its reputation as a reliable and indispensable part of working in capital markets.

Build a broad number of deep relationships with key people in the CLO market and become part of the daily fabric of that market to ensure GlobalCapital understands its subject, its subscribers and their needs better than any of its rivals and has as many sources for stories as possible.

Help to develop innovative ways of sourcing and presenting data on the CLO market to make us an essential source of information for market participants.

Represent the newspaper at international industry events - including speaking on panels at industry events - providing coverage, building contacts and enhancing GlobalCapital's reputation as part of the fabric of the markets it covers.

Support the Head of Securitisation in seeing that the relevant news and data sections of the GlobalCapital website are kept up to date and that relevant email news alerts are well presented with fresh content each day and distributed to deadline.

Provide cover from time to time for other sections as required.



Reporting Lines



The European CLO Reporter will report to the Head of Securitisation





Key Relationships



Works with colleagues and senior editorial staff to produce market insights and data.



Has strong relationships with key people in and around capital markets to provide the sharpest and most insightful coverage. That means having the ability to call people in the market directly rather than having to rely upon press teams and other such gatekeepers.



Works with the marketing and production teams to make sure their coverage reaches the biggest possible audience, presented in the best way achievable.



Works with subscriptions sales team to help drive GlobalCapital's subscriber growth, within appropriate boundaries of editorial independence.





Candidate Profile/Requirements



We are looking for someone with some relevant experience, likely as a journalist or analyst covering finance, or who has worked in the capital markets or within securitisation and is interested in a career change, but CLO experience is not essential.



A proven ability to build trusted relationships with sources, especially by meeting in person.



Ability to lead from the front in driving market leading coverage.



Attention to detail and impeccable standards of accuracy.



A desire to compete against rival publications to be first and best with market coverage.



An aptitude for working with numbers and data and an enthusiasm for sourcing and presenting information in innovative ways.



Ability to work under own direction.



Willingness to travel abroad and work outside of regular hours when required.



Eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.



Ability to come to work in the office and remotely as required
