The evening Driver is responsible for the successful timely collection and delivery to PWNWN premises of all donated food and items including fresh, frozen, dried, tinned, household and personal items. Under the guidance and support of the PWNWN Manager
They are responsible for ensuring the food is transported and stored in a suitable manner to enable the smooth running of the shop which supports families and single people with food insecurity. A key element of this role is keeping accurate records as requested by the Manager to enable the production of reports for the trustees and key stakeholders and funders.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Excellent verbal communication skills
To collect items for the shop from designated suppliers in a time and efficient manner.
To maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
Key Holder - Needs to be responsible
Ensure the correct storage of all food products during transit and once stored at PWNWN shop
Put all frozen / fridge items in the fridges/freezers to adhere to food safety storage
Maintain accurate records/ hours of donations for the Manager
Load van daily with crates to return to the relevant store
Inform the Manager of any changes with Driving license status (ie additional points/convictions)
Ensure PWNWN premises are secured at the end of every shift.
To inform the Manager of any maintenance issues with the van/ transport vehicles.
To ensure the van is clean and hygienic state for food collections
Cool bags to be used in hot weather for all chilled/frozen items
Ensure Health and Safety standards are always adhered to throughout all PWNWN services and premises
To provide a supportive environment where beneficiaries and members of our service can feel safe and build supportive relationships with staff, volunteers and other support organisations.
In collaboration with the manager build relationships with organisations that donate food so that continuity of supply is assured
